LONGMEADOW FARM LLC is a family-owned and operated farm located in Northwest Connecticut on almost 50 acres in West Cornwall. We raise Black Angus cows, Large Black/Berkshire breed pigs, heritage breed lambs, and a variety of breeds of laying hens and eating chickens. Our cows and sheep are fed a completely natural diet: 100% grass-fed, 100% grass-finished, and never fed any grain. Our pigs live outside year-round and have seasonal access to woods and pasture. Our poultry live their lives outside on pasture from the time they have feathered out. Our pastures have never been treated with herbicides or pesticides, and we use no antibiotics, growth hormones, or animal by-products in caring for our animals. Our goal is to produce healthy meat and poultry in the simplest manner possible, using techniques that predate the era of factory farms and industrialized food production.
We also raise a variety of vegetables for sale at the farm. Our principal crops are tomatoes, potatoes, onions, lettuce, and greens. We operate a store at the farm that sells a wide range of dairy and other items in addition to our meat, poultry, and eggs. These items are carefully sourced and as local as is possible. In season we sell a variety of fruit products from the nearby Hudson Valley including apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, and berries.
We are not certified organic, however we are signatories to the CTNOFA pledge and follow organic, sustainable principles as much as possible. If you are interested in learning more about the farm, please contact us about coming for a visit. We have found that this is the best way to introduce ourselves to potential and new customers.
