Spring 2012
And the Farm Market is back with its usual cast of characters and some additions .
This weekend Ridgway Farm will be offering flower and vegetable plants, ramps, Spring greens, maple syrup and a few surprises.
Oh, those early greens are so delicate, refreshing and cleansing. Eat them by the bag full and by June you too will look svelte again in that bathing suite or speedos?!
Motherhouse will have the usual hearty loaves of organic and natural ingredients from Bantam Bread ,( my recommendation is the spelt bread for those figure and health enhancing reasons) ,and cheese from the organic, grass-fed cows of Sprout Creek Farm in Poughkeepsie, NY. Also organic cotton market bags and T-shirts; hand-crafted items including boxes, headbands and jewelry by Margaret.
Cream Hill Veal will be offering a special on its cutlets of $ 2. off its regular price.
Alison Barker Croce’s “Love Heart’s Bakery” will have the delicious Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart and as always whoopie pies and the standards, lemon cakes, sweet potato rum raisin cakes, cookies and of course Cinnamon buns and much more. She won't be there in person but come meet Gina who will be replacing her every other week .
Alison’s baked goods are also available daily at her Bakery in Litchfield next to Chowder Heads.
She and Carol Bonci are like two peas in a pod and compliment each others baked goods so well. Carol graces the Market with her hearty signature focaccias and other delectables that she seemingly pulls out of her hat.
That brings me to one of our new additions the Cornwall General Store that offers baked goods by Susan Saccardi paired with coffee and other prepared goods.
Nick the Knife is ready, he has brand new sharpening stones..all ready and waiting for the touch of those needy knives...and some new Japanese discount knives...and medium and top end Japanese chefs santokus and nakiris...Chinese chefs knives...including a new longer size..of high carbon steel!!..a whole carton full....and lots of stropping compounds to keep your knives RAZOR SHARP......a variety of very cool scissors....jin li's too......and as always...his sharp wits!........Nicki Messer
Hurlburt Farm and Forestry will be there as usual with its fabulous beef and maple syrup.
Nunwell Glass has once more joined us for the season . Sample the beautiful glassware a great gift for any occasion.
Last weekend for the first time Irene Hurlburt of Hautboy Hill Farm and her daughters joined us with eggs , rhubarb and plants.
Mark Orth is representing Birdseye & Tanner Brooks Farm for the second season at our Market.
And then of course there is Tom of Long Meadow Farm who’s list of offerings is so extensive it comes close to he inventory of a fabulous grocery store and has enhanced our Markets product variety greatly . Following is the list that is also available from Tom on a weekly basis if you subscribe to receiving it from him by E-mail thomaskl1@mac.com .
Support your neighbor , strengthen your local economy!
Best Wishes,
Bianca
